Welcome to Heavenly Dental! Your first visit is a time to get to know us (your dentist and hygienist), to ask any questions you might have, and to talk over any specific requests.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for filling out medical history forms and insurance information. Alternately, you can download the forms from our website, fill them out at your convenience, and bring in the completed forms. Forms can be found here.

During your first visit, you will receive a complete dental exam, including a soft tissue exam – examining areas including your gums, roof of the mouth, tongue, and underneath the tongue. We will also examine your jaw and bite, along with checking the condition of your teeth. Typically, we will take some X-rays for more accurate assessments. Finally, we conduct a procedure called probing, which checks for any bone loss around the teeth. We will talk over all our findings with you and offer you suggestions as needed.

After your dental exam, we will do a thorough cleaning, removing any plaque and tartar buildup. We will also polish your teeth so they look their shiny best. At the very end, you will have the option of an application of fluoride to further protect your teeth.

If you have dental insurance, bring your insurance card or information with you. For more information about dental insurance, please visit our Dental Insurance Guide page.

Do I need to transfer records from my previous dentist?

If there is a specific concern with your dental history (i.e. periodontal disease), you can request your past dental office to forward the records. Otherwise, we don’t usually request for dental records to be transferred.

Can I do just teeth cleaning?

By law, you are allowed to have a teeth cleaning without a dental exam if you’ve had a checkup within the last 365 days. If your last checkup was within the last 365 days but with another dental office, we can call them to confirm your previous checkup. If your last checkup was not within the last 365 days, we will need to perform a dental exam before cleaning your teeth.
